Pan-Seared Lion’s Mane “Steaks”

Ingredients

  • 1 large Lion’s Mane mushroom (or 2 medium), cut into 1-inch thick slices

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary or thyme, finely chopped

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • Optional: drizzle of balsamic glaze or squeeze of lemon

Instructions

  1. Prep the mushroom – Gently clean Lion’s Mane and slice into thick “steaks.” Pat dry to remove moisture.

  2. Sear the steaks – Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushroom slices in a single layer. Press lightly with a spatula and cook for 3–4 minutes until golden brown. Flip and repeat.

  3. Add flavor – Reduce heat to medium. Add butter, garlic, and rosemary/thyme to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the mushrooms as they finish cooking, about 2–3 more minutes.

  4. Season – Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

  5. Serve – Plate the mushroom steaks, drizzle with balsamic glaze or lemon if desired, and enjoy as a main course or side.
